Turnip Wedges

An alternative to potato wedges, these turnips hold great flavour and satisfy a craving.


Prep Time : 5 mins

Cook Time : 15-20 mins at 180 º C

Serves : 2 (increase the amount of turnips to serve more)



5-6 turnips (the original recipe I saw used large turnips, so use those if you have them otherwise salad ones work too, which is what I used.)

pinch cumin

pinch chilli

pinch paprika

salt and pepper to taste

2 T olive oil

1 spring onion, chopped



Preheat oven to 180 º C.

Wash turnips, (is using large ones you will need to peel the skin, salad turnips are fine with the tender skin). Cut each turnip into wedge pieces of similar size.

Add to a bowl and sprinkle with seasonings and oil. Toss to combine. Taste test and adjust seasoning as you see fit.

Lay turnips out on baking dish and place in the oven. Toss after 10 minutes to ensure even cooking.

Once the turnips are done, sprinkle over spring onion and serve immediately.

Sour cream & sweet chilli are always a winning dipping sauce.

We made these for our side dish for burgers. Goran enjoyed his burgers in buns and I wrapped mine in Cos lettuce.
